September Birchbox 2012

  • Color Club/Birchbox Custom Polish- Status Update- They teamed up with Color Club to create several custom shades, inspired by the Fall 2012 collections.
  • Nexxus/Pro-Mend Split End Treatment System- Infused with coconut oil and amino acids, this shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatment work together to fix unsightly split ends. Now that is great except I don't have any split ends. Nor do I like the terrible foil packet thingies. They are awful can't they just do small plastic bottles like everyone else for these samples.
  • Twistband/Birchbox Custom Lace Hair Tie- Designers go gaga for lace this season and we don't blame them. Get on board with these ouch-free hair ties. Well I already had gotten one of these months ago in a box. It was even the same color. I ended up losing it before I could even try it. Well mine is a plain turquoise blue. Not sure what they mean my lace b/c I don't see any.
  • Vasanti/ Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator- This exfoliating cleanser uses professional- grade (read: effective) microderm crystals and papaya enzymes to brighten dull skin.
  • Youngblood/Mineral Primer- Prevent makeup meltdowns with this clear gel primer, which contains skin-soothing vitamins and minerals.
  • As the lifestyle extras from Mighty Leaf Tea Company/Teas- Swap your afternoon latte for these yummy tea blends, made from natural, ethically sourced ingredients.
  • Birchbox Digital Download/Tristan Prettyman- is there latest musical crush. Download 2 of his brand new tracks. Never heard of him and also I never do downloads anyway so oh well.

August MyGlam Bag 2012

  • Eclos/Cellular Activator Facial Serum and Moisture Therapy Regenerative Cream- These products use Plant Stem Cell research in this lightweight liquid serum. Which awakens dormant skin stem cells and increases their longevity and enhances their ability to function like young cells. The Face cream contains high potency plant cells to help protect your own skin stem cells. It also helps slow the signs of aging and tighten sagging skin.

  • Salty Cosmetics/Glama-ZOID-Eye Shadow- This white looking powder eye shadow is hiding a secret it's really has a pinky-purple based tint upon applying to your eyes. It is very iridescent in color and makes a great inner-corner highlight or brow bone accent.

  • Circus by Andrea's Choice/Ringmaster Nail color-This beautiful shocking hot pink is a great color to add to the one from last month. I got the color Reverso in my last bag it was a great true white color.

  • Demeter Fragrance Library/Roll on Perfume Oil/Dragon Fruit Scent- This very sweet scent was really nice had I not been allergic to the smell. Otherwise it would have been great. I ended up giving mine away. It did also come in a Clean Skin Scent as well. I was told that one smelt like baby powder which I wouldn't have liked either.

  • My Glam Glam Gloss/Shade 02- This gloss was an extra added bonus that was not featured in the hints for the month. It was a welcome surprise to have. This was sent as a thank you for our support and for being a Glammie. This gloss was a hot pink opalescent color which just from viewing it in the tube would have not worked with my skin tone. So I ended up trading it for the color 01 which was a bubble gum pink color and that worked a lot better.

Mother's Day Nail Design 2012

So another Mother's Day is almost upon us. I may not have any children of my own & that's OK. I have been a pet parent for almost 2 years now to my wonderful "children" a girl and a boy cat. They are in a way like children they fight, won't eat what you give them, don't listen to you and get into all sorts of messes. So with that I present to you my simple and cute nail design for Mother's Day. So if you are a mother or a mother to be or even a mother to a pet or pets. Then I hope you appreciate this as much as I do. PS- Happy Mother's Day to all and to my mom as well.
Here is a close up of my nails. The pattern was inspired by Betsy Johnson's iconic floral print. If you want to know what colors or products I used. Please leave me a comment below and I will be happy to let you know. Like I said, this is a quick simple to the point nail design. So cute to wear any day not just on Mom's special day. Also if you have any requests or ideas for any future nail designs please let me know as well.

NYC City Sweets Collection Limited Edition Polish

One day I was checking a blog post from Nouveau Cheap. She was showing some pictures of NYC's new limited edition City Sweets 2012 collection. This collection consists of two types of lip glosses, duo eye shadows, a blush, some stickers and nail polishes.

I was only interested in the nail polishes. The other items were things I didn't need. Most of the items on the display were already sold out. This collection was hard for me to find. I went to Target, Walmart, Walgreens & Ulta I couldn't find them. So I tried CVS that was my last resort. Well CVS did have them. They only had 3 of the 4 colors available so I bought those.

Also here in Texas I have a grocery store named HEB and sometimes they carry the Limited editions of NYC and other brands. So I will make a stop there later in the week to see if I can find the last color needed.

The colors I purchased are as follows.
These colors are great. They went on smooth and opaque. I didn't have any streaking problems. These colors do dry fast as this is the In a NYC Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish. You can apply a second coat if needed. As with any colors I always apply two coats unless it's a sheer color.
I was very happy with this collection. The retail pricing for this was $1.99. I was impressed with the colors and the way it applied. I usually never have any issues with NYC polishes. The names for the polishes were clever as with all polish brands now a days. Most have some very interesting names or play on words.
The only color missing from the bunch is City Sweets Pink. I will post a short color swatch if and when I find it. I don't give up that easy. So if you are in the neighborhood of a CVS and I was told Rite Aid has them as well. I don't have Rite Aid here. Then you should try to snag up the collection if you want. Or even look into the other pieces of the collection. Let me know in the comments below what you think of this. Or if you can even find it in your area. Happy Hunting.

Sonia Kashuk 4 Piece Mini Nail Color Set- A Powerful Punch

I was in Target the other day and was so happy to find that this was restocked. There was only 2 left so I was in luck I had been trying to find this ever since it was released. This set of nail colors are aptly named A Powerful Punch. The set retails for $9.99. They're cute, bright and fun colors.
There are 4 great spring colors. Khaki Shorts, Making Waves, Ooh La La, and Tutti Frutti. These are exclusive to Target for the Sonia Kashuk limited edition spring collection. I really love these colors and the way they apply. They are kinda streaky at first coat but, become opaque and smooth after the second one is applied. I know that come spring/summer many nail polish companies do colors that are quite similar. This polish is good quality and has some staying power.

I was hesitant at first to getting this set. I then caved in and thus the quest began to finding this. It was sold out for weeks at many Targets that I visited. So every trip to Target I casually went by that section to see if there was one. Till I hit the jackpot. If your still able to find this I would highly recommend it. It's totally worth it.

This is what the colors look like with 2 coats and no top coat.

I really like these colors. I don't currently own an thing that is close to them. I'm not sure how long this collection will be in stores. I know that it is currently available at www.target.com. So what do you think of this collection? Will you try to find it? Do you already have it? If so do you like it? If you have any questions or comments please leave them below.

How to remove stubborn/glitter nail polish fast

Have you ever painted your nails with a wild glitter polish? Or even used a glitter polish as a top coat? I have and I can tell you it's a nightmare to remove. The solution? Well I'll tell you that in a minute. I have tried many things from soaking my nails in pure acetone. To soaking them in those nail polish jars with the sponge inside. Nothing worked well. It either took to long or irritated my nail beds from all the rubbing. So I found a great and easy solution to remove glitter or stubborn polish. One day last year while browsing the web as to find a better way to remove said polish. I discovered several ideas all using aluminum foil and cotton balls. So I decided to try this idea. Well it really worked.
Here is what you need to do this. Any aluminum foil I got mine at the local grocery store. Scissors to cut the foil into 10 small sheets. Any nail polish remover and cotton balls or cotton pads. I love using the cotton pads personally and I feel are easier to use. I cut 3 cotton pads in 4's.
Then using the nail polish remover I put a good amount to saturate the pad. Then I placed all the pads on each of my fingers.
Then using foil sheets I placed my finger on top and then folded it over the nail to seal it. Do that to all the nails on one hand then let set for 10 minutes or longer it's up to you. This may also depend on the type of glitter used and how many coats of polish you have on.
When time is up lightly twist the foil back and forth several times.
Then pull from the nail revealing a clean polish free nail. If for some reason all the polish doesn't come off on the first try. Then just use a cotton ball/pad to clean off any excess left on the nail. Then proceed to doing the other hand in the same manner.
This can also be used on your toes as well to take off the polish in a easier way. Especially if you have problems like me bending for long periods of time.
This to me is the easiest way to remove polish without damaging your nail or cuticle area.
